The 2016 Conference of The Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI) will in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 24-26, 2016. As Minnesota Youth Development Research Group, we are presenting a symposium at the conference this year. The title of our symposium is Using Developmental Skills and Supports to Improve Youth Outcomes. Dr. Michael Rodriguez will be the chair of this session. The following is a list of the paper presentations in the symposium:
  • Rigorous Measurement from a Statewide Youth Survey
  • After-School Participation and the Association with Developmental Outcomes
  • School Sports and Positive Youth Development
  • Exploring American Indian Students’ Non-response to Educational Goals
These papers will present the methodology of creating developmental scales from the Minnesota Student Survey, their associations with other important outcomes (e.g., developmental skills, social values, and academic achievement), and examples of applying these measures to practical contexts where youth thrive. The symposium handout and the presentation slides will be available in our website.
